Cebu Learning Center (CLC) strives to develop compassionate and creative young people who are able to think globally in order to function confidently and responsibly in our rapidly changing and increasingly interdependent world. The curriculum stresses critical thinking and intellectual independence, yet remains sufficiently flexible in addressing individual students’ needs.

CLC offers academic instruction in areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music and physical education. Based on the belief that children have a natural potential for learning, the curriculum is designed to provide students with the necessary opportunities to tap that potential. The non-traditional curriculum places vocational, recreational and artistic activities at par with academic ones. It gives students the freedom to play, express themselves, experiment and find solutions to practical life problems and social concerns.

CLC focuses primarily on skills, not content. Although knowledge is imparted, the curriculum strives to develop skills needed to acquire knowledge. Instruction is also designed to meet individual needs and accommodate the different learning styles and rates of development in children.

The core curriculum at CLC is modeled after an American system that we extended and adapted to be relevant to a global community. Emphasis is placed on discovery, participation, thinking skills and communication. Everything students are expected to learn is taught in school. Excessive homework and tutoring are not necessary, and after school hours can be for play, relaxation, reflection and family time.

In depth written progress reports are given at the end of each trimester, accompanied by a Parent-Teacher conference.

Mission Statement

Cebu Learning Center exists to serve all children, with an educational program and a learning environment designed to stimulate and challenge them to develop themselves within their fullest potential. The school’s educational philosophy and curriculum stresses critical thinking and intellectual independence and remains sufficiently flexible to allow each student to progress as rapidly as ability and maturity permits.

We guide our students in learning essential skills and acquiring and applying knowledge creatively. We hope to develop global thinking, compassionate and creative young people who will function confidently and responsibly in our rapidly changing and increasingly interdependent world.
